TITLE: Child Care Worker

 Pos ition Responsibilities:  The Care Worker shall be a full-time, part-time, or seasonal employee who reports directly to the Shelter Manager. In the absence of the Shelter Manager, the Child Care Worker reports to the Lead Child Care Worker. 

The Child Care Worker shall take general responsibility for overseeing the daily schedule of the shelter residents while on duty.


Education and Experience:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have a High School Diploma, GED, or be within one year of earning a GED.
  • Complete an initial training program prescribed by the Shelter Manager, no less than 24 hours in length.
  • Complete Managing Aggressive Behavior training within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Complete CPR and First Aid training within the first 90 days of employment.

​Knowledge and Skills:

  • General knowledge of the format utilized in preparing daily progress and behavior reports.
  • Some skills in securing and maintaining the confidence and cooperation of children.
  • Basic knowledge of simple health and safety precautions and of first aid methods.
  • Basic skills in communicating effectively both orally and in writing, in exercising mature judgments, and in appraising situations and adopting a practical course of action

  • Ft or Pt Childcare worker (Youth Shelter) 


TITLE: Outreach Counselor 


Job Summary: The Outreach Counselor is responsible for providing services to designated clients/consumers served by Youth and Family Services and for maintaining updated caseloads, including completed acceptable documentation as indicated. The Outreach Counselor will adhere to policy and procedures in daily operations and service delivery.

  • First Time Offender Program (FTOP) Groups
  • Anger Management Groups
  • Life Skills Groups
  • Substance Abuse Education Groups
  • Parenting Groups

Community At-Risk Services (CARS)
Case Management
Tutoring


Hours:
Full-time—schedules are flexible and set by the counselor but requires 25 billable hours per week.
Part-time—schedules are flexible and set by the counselor.
(Some evening and/or weekend work may be required.)
